This special sneak peek gives you just a glimpse of what you can expect from over two hours of footage headed your way next month...This is a very interesting video retrospective for comics, I just hope that they have a good voice audio of the speaker, but it might be this low audio quality fit for the teaser only. Reward of the day comes after a very tiring week, I'm so excited to read this today and write my review about it I'm a little bit late for this but I'm glad that Comic Odyssey saved a copy for me. I spotted from their list that more DCnU comics will be delivered this Sept 21, my target to grab is Wonder Woman 1 and Batman 1. Now my hunt for Green Lantern 1 and Detective Comics 1 just started today.
I'm also thinking to get a copy of Green Lantern Corps 1 and Green Arrow 1, but it will be my 2nd choice if ever the priority titles under my list is still out of stock.
oh yeah! comics!
video: Breaking Into Comics with C.B. Cebulski
Here's a video of C.B. Cebulski from the SDC 2011 and he gave a tip here for those who want to have a break into comics.
I've been involve in some portfolio review years ago from comic seminars, to mini events and conventions, they all have the same advices like have a great story telling in your drawings if you plan to apply as a comic artist, but for me, I got another interest if ever I'm going to work again for comics, I miss the engagements between comic artists, writers, studios and publisher. I guess its time for me to try and look for some outsource work, if Marvel or DC have it in their list, or might work again in a different comic studio or agency.. hmmm lets see.

Got a time to visit a comic book store yesterday
Everyone in Comic Odyssey, Robinsons Galeria were surprised that I visited the store yesterday, my last time to be there was around last year, I spotted also Mark Torres exiting the hall and he told me that the DCnU season just arrived, I went to Saizen first and check some toys there for my baby boy Ash and after that I visited Comic Odyssey to grab some new comic titles to be added in my 2011 comic collection edition haahaa.
JLA #1 and Detective Comics #1 got sold out, Sandy of Comic Odyssey told me that their next delivery of new stocks will be on the 21st of September and it will be the 3rd printing edition for JLA, I said its okay and I want one copy, then after going out of the mall and rode a taxi going to Makati, Nelinda of Comic Odyssey did another weird miscalls on my phone and then after I text her after her miscalls, she sent a reply that they got one more copy of JLA left in a box, I sent a reply for interest to grab it and will try to take it home later or maybe on Friday.
geez...After reading that Marvel Preview, I'm so late already on what's happening in the world of mutants and our planet's mightiest heroes. I'm excited to read Action Comics #1 , will save the awesomeness of it later and start my ritual of reading comics in the living room after I arrive home later. I will also post my thoughts about this new issues next week.
happy comics reading to all!

comics: DC 52: Justice League #1 Review
by blog contributor Dorkour
Super heroes band together to fight menacing threats. But for DC’s rebooted universe’s Justice League, they come together to fight bad economy – the steady decline of comic book sales. In order to curb this downtrend, DC rebooted the continuity for the nth time to attract new readers. 52 comic books were reset so that new readers can catch up. The banner title of the set, Justice League, was the first to come hot off the press. (MORE STORY BELOW)
The book boasts of Green Lantern master storyteller, Geoff Johns and 90’s wonder talent, Jim Lee. The team of creators in itself is an intriguing entry point for avid fans. Johns brings to the table an evolved comic book story telling style while Jim Lee harkens to the awesomeness of bursting muscles and bust lines of the 90s.
The way Justice League book 1 rolls out is an intriguing choice for launching the entire DC Universe Reboot. It features a flashback that shows some of the League’s major characters and one, Cyborg, seemingly coming out of the woodworks. And immediately, you’ll get a feel that this Justice League is not the team of the yesteryears. The heroes are not fully embraced as shown in how Batman and Green Lantern got acquainted. Their mini-adventure leads to the duo in Metropolis and encounters the inevitable – Superman.
Justice League book 1 is a topsy-turvy ride. It had its moments and then some. It’s written in an open way that it can divide readers. Some might find it intriguing that there are a lot of openings for future opportunities. Some might find it lacking for not having that sense of purpose in the plot. Despite it being only the first book, one might find it hard to grasp why is there a need for a collage of super powered beings. The threat of Dark Seid is an instant hook for old readers. But it’s hardly any cause of concern for new ones. It still doesn’t have the singular message that Marvel’s Avengers hold on to – When one hero cannot defeat a greater menace, they assemble. Geoff Johns missed out on the opportunity to seed a Justice League credo. Here’s to thinking that there is a greater purpose to that but this is your first book, open with a bang.
A good point of the book is the inclusion of Cyborg. He’s never been on a Justice League team before. And in a poetic way, he represents the new readers. Perhaps he is part of the team to help give readers the affinity to keep them hooked.
The first book is a fun start. But it needs to show seeds of piquing the human interest to bring in the new readers. This is what Marvel does best. Using their movies, they strike a chord in the people’s emotion. Thus bringing the characters closer to heart and making them relevant. Just look back at the loveable renegade in Thor, the pure hearted man-out-of-his-element Captain America, and the flawed Tony Stark. They are humans first, then beings with above human capabilities next.
The artwork is a blast from the past. Jim Lee’s art never held back on details. And that is quite obvious in Justice League. To a fault sometimes. The awkward paneling and excessive lines is like Chris Bachalo’s Steam Punk days. Impressive. But it doesn’t aid the storytelling.
Birthing pains are as constant as reboots. DC knows this the best. The first book has its flaws but it doesn’t mean it’s not a fun read. And if there’s one writer who can turn things around, it’s Geoff Johns. Justice League might have taken off with a shaky start but never discount its true worth - the first book of a potentially good series.
DC’s fight for relevance has just begun and it’s going to be a long battle. That in itself is a worthy plot to follow.
September 2011 is a good month to start collecting DC Comics
I’m going back to collect comics and maybe I’ll follow on selected titles only, been absent in the world of comics lately and I think it’s a good start to buy, collect and read new stories coming up for this month of September, because if you don’t know yet, all 52 titles of DC comics will be rebooted to issue 1, why did they do that after all these years? Maybe because its their marketing and brand move for the coming century for DC comics. All titles will be back to issue number 1 and I experienced it before the hype and great comic madness after buying and collecting issue 1 when JLA was published last 1997, it moves me back to comic collecting and trigger my feet to troop down to Comic Quest and Filbars every Saturday to hunt the latest issue of JLA. ( MORE STORY BELOW)
JLA comics is a revamped of the Justice League comics after receiving low sales of the old title, then DC decides to relaunch it under a new title JLA and focuses only to 7 super heroes , and the story is written by Grant Morrison and art by Howard Porter, it was the best comic series for me, and I started collecting the comics until issue 20, then I stopped buying and focused my self in collecting toys, then I heard the bad news that Grant Morrison left the gig. I know it will affect the whole series, but then the comic went well after some issues.
You can see here that revamping or relaunching comic titles like what DC Comics is going to do starting this September will have a new direction and also audience for their other titles. I’m very interested to check out other titles and the good ness in collecting comics from issue 1 is that you’ll be focusing on a new story line with some new character development, because it is not just a reboot of the comics, but it is also reboot of the character’s costume and other story revolves on it, let’s consider this the new age for DC comics, I’m still waiting for the right term on what age shall we call for the new reboot of DC Comics, maybe we can call it the DC Comics REBOOT age, following after the Golden and Silver age of comics.
Collecting comics is like having an investment too, so if you are into business or want to keep the comics and buy extra copies, these issue 1 titles might have a price increase in the future, in my experience for example, the JLA comics that I collected back in my college days helped me in paying for my college tuition fee for the whole year and that’s a big money,I just got lucky that there’s this hardcore comic collector who missed the entire issue 1-20 of JLA and want to buy the whole set with a good price. I got lucky so I sold my comics in order to continue my studies because that year was my life being as a bread winner for my family and having a small business in comics and toys kept my college years stable for some years, but then I stopped and continued on focusing other stuff like other businesses.
Its hard to accept the change of costumes of some superheroes for the REBOOT Age of DC Comics, I know everyone are not in favor of removing the red trunks of Superman and replacing it with a plain blue trunks and armor like belt and chest plate, I think they are doing this in line with the upcoming REBOOT of a Superman movie titled “Man of Steel” but its just so weird because they want to move the comics first and apply the new designs for the movie, the upcoming Man of Steel movie will be out for next year and we aren’t sure if the comic will stay with the new costume and not end up like the 1st change of costume of Superman few years ago, remember that Superman turned into a pure electric energy, and they returned him back to the original costume because the comic sales went down. For this REBOOT Age of DC Comics, I think DC Comics will gamble and they will stick for the new designs for GOOD. Even that the fans will hate it, but I know having a reboot to issue number 1 will turn out good, because comic collectors will be the target here and not mainly the avid comic reader, and also a good start to get new audience for the comic book, especially kids and young adults. So the joke on why do superheroes wear their pants first before the underwear will be gone for awhile, but we might laugh on the next coming years that it is so silly to see superheroes wearing spandex and underwear when they go in battle, its an iconic image for superheroes with those costumes and its hard to accept it that it will be buried in the past.
Remember what happened to the Wonder Woman costume, they changed it and removed the iconic bikini like outfit and replaced it with a new version Wonder Woman in a pants or tights, after some issues of the comics, they brought it back again, but then the debate comes back when the new tv series for Wonder Woman was filmed and we saw the Wonder Woman in pants, and then fans went on a debate again and demanded to see the original costume, the tv producers rebooted the series and changed it to the original version, but the sad news came that the tv series was canceled even before the pilot episode was aired, due to cancellation of tv networks in buying the series to air it. The plan of reboot for series turned bad in changing costume, but if the film or tv series is very successful, they concept or costume of the character can be applied into comics and because of the acceptance of fans and new readers, the costume can stay in the comics.
The trend started after a series of movies of the X-men, and other films like Batman Begins and etc. The costume from the movies was applied to the comics and it seems so okay and very realistic to deal with it, no more colorful spandex and funny gimmicks or weapons, the success of this change of costumes in films will bring success also to comics, I also noticed on Batman’s new costume design for this REBOOT age of DC Comics , it is similar or close to similar on the designs they used on Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, check out the chest costume of Batman, it looks like from Chirs Nolan’s film. The only thing that never change is the Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Flash costume. I’m so glad that they didn’t applied that Green Lantern movie costume, because it is so different but I like the concept that the costume is a pure energy, I’m not sure if this will apply to the comics but I have a very big feeling that they might follow some design and concept from the film. And for Wonder Woman in pants costume…case closed and you know already the story behind it.
So what do you think of this new issue and reboot age of DC Comics ? I’m going to dig the comic book store on my next pay day and yesss!!! Its comic shopping time!
Adding the list of comic stores to hunt DC Comics are - Comic Odyssey, Comic Quest, Filbars, Druid’s Keep and Fourth Wall. Let the comic collecting begins!

Revealed in Marvel Comics’ Ultimate Fallout Issue 4, out Wednesday, the new Spider-Man in the Ultimate universe is a half-black, half-Hispanic teen named Miles Morales. He takes over the gig held by Peter Parker, who was killed in Ultimate Spider-Man Issue 160 in June. - sourceI think its the right time to dig in some comics and see what's going on in the weird universe of the Ultimates, I'm sure killing Peter Parker in comics is not about that Clone Wars thing.
