Coca-Cola Guess Who's Coming to Dinner ? Story behind the OFW Project

I've posted this video few weeks ago here in my blog, its a teary eye video that brings joy and hope to all our OFW to come back home here in the Philippines and celebrate Christmas with their families, its a tough decision and expensive trip back here and going back again abroad to work, and to other OFW, instead of going back here, they just give the balikbayan budget to their families to support them and accept the fact that you can go back here after a year or so. The video that was spread online via YouTube, Facebook and blogs, captured the hearts of our fellow pinoys and OFW and shows that there's still hope to come back and be with your family this Christmas. Coca-Cola Philippines surprised us on their OFW project feat. our new heroes of this era and giving them a once in a lifetime trip going home and surprise them with an unexpected arrival.

after watching the video, you can now wipe your eyes.. here's some tissue.

I've been thinking years ago to work abroad, there's an opp. came that I can work as social media manager for this company based in another country outside the Philippines, its hard to think and decide if I can grab the opps. and leave my family here at home be gone and stay abroad for a long time, its a tough decision because I know the stories of our OFW and I can feel the same how they miss their family and the hardship they do working for them to give a better life. I'm not ready yet, but this video by Coca-Cola showed that there's still hope and always think about your family and your homeland.

Here in this video we feature the OFW that were given a great chance to come back here

P9055380
Coca Cola Philippines just unveiled the new release of another Coke in a plastic bottle, and with a new tag name as "Kasama Coke" bottle, a 400ML Coke in a re-sealable plastic bottle, this is perfect for people who are always on the go, and want to keep their bottle in the bag and never worry of any spills and for lighthearted teens who want to carry a cool and sexy Kasama Coke bottle whenever they go. The new Kasama Coke is now priced at P15.00 and available in sari sari store located in GMA, Central and South Luzon. (MORE STORY BELOW)

If you are wondering why the name "Kasama Coke", this was coined by one of Coca-Cola's very own unthusiastic fan and her name is Camille Quiambao, who won in the Coke Dream Pack online contest last February 2011. That's an awesome contest and Camille's dream pack name for Coke won the contest! I just hope that this bottle stays forever in our local stores, because for me, the size and content of the drink fits for me and I can monitor myself if I'm drinking too much already, well, I love Coke and its fun to drink it as a partner with my favorite food, like what we have here at home, lunch time with Adobo and Kasama Coke.

it is very affordable for a price of P15. I just hope this will be available too in all convenience store.

Go Green! Go For The Real Thing! Treeplanting Activity

assembly area
by: Daomisyel

Its our responsibility to take care of our surroundings. Age doesn't matter if you would like to participate to help our local environment. One problem that we are encountering today is deforestation due to climate change, erosion, pollution and many other factors that causes our forest to deteriorate. As we remembered, it was in September 2009 Typhoon Ondoy causes severe flooding and left 73 dead and more than 300,000 were relocated in the areas of Cainta, Marikina, Antipolo and Pasig.

Go Green! Go For The Real Thing! Treeplanting Activity is a program for something for everyone, through Coca-Cola Foundation tree planting takes places at Marikina-Sapinit Watershed, Saturday, July 23 located at the Barangay Sapinit in Antipolo wherein over 100 volunteers come out and plant trees early in the morning.

The volunteers were instructed to bring their own materials like shovel, and wear appropriate dresses to avoid sun heat and protection like shoes or boots, long sleeves, sunscreen and ointments.A very excellent opportunity as a volunteer to be part of this environmental awareness. Lending our precious time to see the unique and beauty of our nature.

Our activities include:

    * Wildling collection -- Gather wildlings, bring to the nursery and prepare for potting
    * Nursery work -- Prepare potting mix, pot the wildlings and arrange potted wildlings in plot
    * On-site preps -- Clear and measure site, install stakes and dig holes
    * Outplanting -- Haul wildlings to planting site, enlarge/deepen holes, plant wildlings and apply mulch

Volunteers registered at their desired activities, wherein there were about seven groups that helped hand in hand to wilding, preps and outplanting.

about more than 15 minutes walk to the site

Before we go on site, the group were assembled at the Ynares covered court and welcomed by the host communities and their local units. Snacks and beverages were also served; and first aid volunteers were also present. Barangay Sapinit has also assigned Team Leaders to guide volunteers going to on site. Our goal that time is to plant more than 10 wildings on our assigned areas. Luckily, we were able to finish on time and do some extra outplanting with the help of our Team Leaders.

Afterwards, all volunteers went back to the assembly area. Refreshments were also served, and a chance to take some rest, change clothes and share our experiences with other volunteers. It is a remarkable experience to be part of this project and learn more about the community, our environment and our mission as a human beings.

Kjwan meets Sitti in a one mash up performance for Coke Studio Volume Up!

Sitti and Kjwan (14)

The months and weeks for music will never stop, especially when it comes to music mash ups and collaboration again for the Coca Cola Music Studio, this 2nd season they are featuring another top artist for the Coke Studio Volume Up! This episode we will see the rock band Kjwan to jam up with bossa nova solo artist Sitti. Will we see Sitti do the head bang thing under Kjwan’s music? Or shall we see Kjwan do the kembot thing under Sitti’s voice? To find it out, let’s watch the new episode here at http://musicstudio.coca-cola.com.ph/

More story below

Sitti’s “Wag mo munang sasabihin” and Kjwan’s “Pintura” are mixed into one song, at first I saw Sitti started to carried away with Kjwan’s guitar riffs and drum beats in their video performance, you know that the song “Pintura” is one of the heaviest rock song of Kjwan and I’m not really sure on how will they ever blend it with Sitti’s style, I’m also thinking if will they do a bossa side or the rock side?

This is the hardest music mash up ever for the entire season and its great to see our local artist to take up the challenge and try fusing their music style into another styles, I think Coke Studio Volume Up! is different from season 1, because in their 1st episode for season 2, we saw that they are trying to fuse not just the song, but also for the music style.

For me, this is a must watch performance of Sitti and Kjwan.

Coca-Cola Music Studio airs 5:30 to 6:00pm every Sunday on MYX, with replays on Tuesday at 7:30 to 8:00pm

watch the entire web episode online at http://musicstudio.coca-cola.com.ph/

Coke Studio: Volume Up! pilot concert episode

Kjwan (11)

Kjwan

There will be more mash up songs and performance coming from Coca Cola Music Studio, they have another batch of local artist and bands to do a performance with a collaborative effort to mix their songs into a one mash up song, imagine mixing a slow type of song with a heavy rock or catchy beat from another song. This week they have released a new episode via the website http://musicstudio.coca-cola.com.ph/ , the Coke Studio Volume Up! (more below)

This 2nd season of mash up kicks off with a mini-concert by Champ, Callalily, Sitti and Kjwan. I’m excited to see them and hear their music especially the mixing of the samba style of Sitti and hard rock of Kjwan, who I heard is the first mash-up pair for Season 2! I’m also very excited to see how Callalily will blend with the band Kiss Jane, and we saw Champ is on the list but his mash up partner haven’t revealed, could be another band? I know they can do a rock mash up, because Champ came from the band Hale, and it will be just a fusion of two rock band with different styles in lyrics.

If ever I’m going to have a wish list for this mash up project of Coca Cola, I can wish for some oldies mashing up with a newbie artist, that’s a challenge, so make my mash up wish come true. Watch the pilot concert and opening the hype for Coke Studio: Volume Up! to see what will they present to us. The pilot concert is a teaser on what the artist can show for the main mash up performance, are you excited ?

Once again there will be interviews and backstage moments in video and photos that are posted in the official website of Coca Cola Music Studio, you can watch all episode online for free, but if you are on TV, try to catch the telecast of some episodes on Myx.

The Coca Cola Music Station episodes air every Sunday from 5:30pm-6:00pm and have replays every Tuesday from 7:30pm to 8:00pm, airing only in MYX

Coke Music Studio season 1 recap

Last February 2011, we saw the mash up performance of Gloc 9 and Tanya Markova, I will never forget the awesome team up of these two, because their performance and mixing their songs are like a big cross over in a comic book, it’s a fusion of different worlds just like mixing the rap of Gloc 9 and the catchy music and lyrics of Tanya Markova, the fusion of two songs came from Gloc 9’s “Bakit” and Tanya Markova’s “Picture Picture”, here we saw that the two songs are related and shares the same theme. Its great also to hear that the two artist love the idea of working together to form a new song and Tanya Markova revealed that they wish that Gloc 9 is a part of their band.

On the month of March 2011, on the 2nd leg of the Coca Cola Music Studio, we spotted another team up of Yeng Constantino and the band Pedicab for another mash up. At first I thought that the mash up will turn into a disco music using Yeng’s “Jeepney Love Story” and Pedicab’s “FX” ,but watching the entire interview and behind the scenes footage, they revealed that they too enjoyed working together to do a collab music content for everyone, the mix of two songs are perfect and the theme of each songs are the same, Jeepney and FX are the most popular form of land transportation here in our country and each songs features a story to tell, I already dubbed this song as “para!” Both artists are into rock, mixing electronica of Pedicab and a great rock spirited music by Yeng, this is one of my favorite mash up for Coca Cola Music Station and I hope they release this in mp3 format in the future.

Mid April 2011 is another episode week for Coca Cola Music Studio, girls are screaming whenever they hear the names of this artist, JayR and Sponge Cola, their collab might be the crowd favorite for college students because their music styles can influence more to the youth. Sponge Cola band revealed via their interview in the website that they love RnB music and hip hop that’s why they did a successful collaboration with JayR, even that it’s their first time to meet. The excitement of this collaborative project for music doubled their performance after that JayR mix his song “Design 4 Luv” with the rock music of Sponge Cola’s “Puso”. I also like this collaboration because the two have different music styles but they coped on to each other and tried the other side of the artists’  music genre. This is the real mash up for me. As they say,Rock music can fit to any kind of music genres.

photo

For May 2011, we saw Solo RnB artist Kyla and General Luna band did another mash up for us and its like a version of a female rock and RnB music collaboration, I even compared this to the Sponge Cola and JayR mash up performance ,I caught this episode on TV when  they air it on Myx, I paused for awhile and listened of their music will blend, Kyla’s music for RnB is not the same like from JayR, but here in an all girl music team up, both artists pulled if off by mixing their songs “Mahal Kita” by Kyla and “Tila” by General Luna, as the band shared it via the interview, the band’s vocalist Nicole, said that the both songs shared the same theme and emotions. The performance is energetic and it is my first time to see General Luna on the TV and also here online performing with another artist, you can only see that here at the Coca Cola Music Studio.

There will be more mash up in the coming future, so better log in to http://musicstudio.coca-cola.com.ph/
