Yahoo! Mail visualization project - view stats of live data worldwide

Yahoo! Mail shows another wow factor with the release of Yahoo! Mail Visualization Project, a public display of stats of live data being distributed per seconds, imagine that an average of 16,000 live data that are being delivered per second (for PH daytime) and I know it is more at our PH night time, there's also a live visualization stats on the trending words being used in the mail subject line and also a trending words used by spam mails. We think the technology we’re using to keep your mailboxes safe is quite awesome and we wanted to show you how we do it, so today we’re going live with the Yahoo! Mail Visualization Project – a view of what no one has seen before using live data…how we use cloud computing and Apache Hadoop technology to filter spam and re-route email for the 300 million mail users we have across the globe.

Yahoo! did a great job in securing our mails and inboxes and blocking up to more than 550 billion spam messags per month, and that's a 1,800 emails for every Yahoo! Mail user.

The Yahoo! Mail Visualization Project is to show the science and technology of how we use the Yahoo! Mail every day and this is a good viewing stats to see how many people uses technology per day.

and regarding about the Hadoop tech

it aggregate anonymous data from the billions of emails sent and received each day and as a result has helped us reduce spam reports by 65%. Our technology analyzes all this anonymous data (with the help of Hadoop) and identifies spam patterns so we can then use really intelligent algorithms to predict future email patterns that will differentiate “good” and “bad” senders.

A visit in Yahoo! Philippines office

I visited the local office of Yahoo! Philippines in Global City. Its my first time to be there and I didn't know that their office is located near Burgos Circle. I was there with some media and bloggers for the 2011 Net Index Study by Yahoo! and Nielsen. Its about the growing trend and behavior of internet users in the Philippines.



I just learned here that home internet is fast growing due to bundle plans and also affordability of subscriptions, there's a new trend coming in and that's all about the deal aggregations of group buying sites, and theres an interesting news about the state of e-commerce in the Philippines. I'm going to post here this week about that Net Index for 2011, and its more than just about social networking and searches.
