Come Monday...Hickory Wind Ranch

“Come Monday…” is aweekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary about,  websites, movies, documentaries, televisionshows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time.  Be assured that these reviews will begenerally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “ComeMonday.”  This is subject to change, however.  In fact, I would be mostderelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while.  For rants promote change, and change can begood—right?  Therefore, since good isgenerally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the paralleluniverses that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as beingsomething positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

Mywife and I have both shied away from watching [A&E’s Intervention].  For we both have our own personal experienceswith substance abuse and addiction, and from what we have seen of the show,  it is most definitely a “real-life”show—certainly not a “reality” one in the same way as far too many others are.

So,if this show is too painfully real for us to watch from afar, just think whatit is like on the frontline of this battlefield?  Thankfully, there are those like at the[Hickory Wind Ranch] in the trenches.

Beassured that work in this field is a calling from our HeavenlyFather—regardless of whether or not this is actually recognized.  For only He can deliver someone out of suchan enslavement, and only He can provide the enormous amount of patience andunderstanding until it happens.

No,not all who seek will find His deliverance. For it is written: Whoever has ears, let them hear.  “If anyone is to go into captivity, intocaptivity they will go.  If anyone is tobe killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.  This calls for patient endurance andfaithfulness on the part of God’s people. [Revelation 13:9-10 NIV]

Nonetheless, that does not mean that those who do not find deliverance in this world faceeternal damnation.  For it is also written:Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.  No temptation has overtaken you but such asis common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be temptedbeyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way ofescape also, so that you will be able to endure it. [1 Corinthians 10:12-13 NAS]

Alas, all is not as it naturally seems to be from our own ground-basedpoints-of-view, and far too many refuse to see what our Heavenly Father wantsto show them.  For being afflicted with aterrible disease is not always the fault of the afflicted.  In fact, in many cases, it is actually agreat blessing.  For it is meant to drivethem towards the only One who can save us while many of those who appear to besecure in their own strength will perish because of refusing to truly accept wherethat strength actually comes from and why.

No,none of that is meant to suggest that going to rehab centers like [Hickory Wind Ranch] is a waste of time.  For they areordained by our Heavenly Father to help the hurting, and we should all be inawe of the work that they were created to do [Ephesians 2:10].
