Starbucks Philippines releases the "Starbucks Shared Planet Planner 2012"

Starbucks Coffee will release their 9th edition of their annual Starbucks Coffee planner this November 3 in all branches, and this coming 2012 it’s a new edition with 5 kinds of cover made of engineered wood (manufactured man made wood) and the size is much smaller and a size of a 7 inches computer tablet. It’s a time of the year to collect those stickers and get a free Starbucks planner 2012. I was there last night at the big unveiling together with the Starbucks bloggers group, and everyone were excited to see the new planner, and it was the star of the night.

The planner is called “Starbucks Shared Planet”, it’s a theme about Starbucks commitment to doing business in ways that are good to each other and the planet, example of that are the new Starbucks branches here in Manila, were they use recycled materials, even recycle an old building and use natural energy sources, the three pillars that reflect this are ethical sourcing, environmental stewardship and community involvement.

Starbucks Shared Planet planner 2012 have:
1. Pouch – made of that coffee bean bag
2. Bookmark
3. Nine different coupons that can be used through out the year 2012
4. Engineered wood front and back cover
5. Strap – to hold and secure your planner
6. Inlay pocket – so that you can keep your mini docu, notes and the coupons
7. Calendar table note
8. Note section for every week of the month....also a space were you can doodle or draw
9. Serial number code – for tracking on where did you bought and claimed your planner
10. Engraved logo of Starbucks on the covers

Everyone can start collecting the stickers starting this November 3, 2011 up to January 8, 2012. One sticker is awarded for each beverage purchase in Starbucks, there are now two options on how to collect stickers to redeem the Limited edition planner.

option 1: Nine beverages plus eight core beverages except bottled drinks = 17 stickers
option 2: 23 core beverages except bottled drinks = 23 stickers

I think this is the best look and feature of the Starbucks planner through out that 9 years, I remember that my 1st planner was way back 2007 and it was a very bulky, big black planner, I used it heavily until I got tired and bought a new and smaller notebook, It was a start of a career for me to collect those stickers and it wasn’t so easy and I have no choice but to treat my friends with some drinks.

I’m glad that Starbucks Ph made a study after it and they started to shrink down the planner and remove the leathery cover and replace it with a prestige binding style and planner 2011 spank a new design with a die cut cover. I also learned that each county region has its own design and South East Asia branches of Starbucks has its own and shared its design, but here in the Philippines it's our limited edition design and not available in other countries.

The planner 2012 is much smaller, lighter and more space to write notes, I’ll use this Starbucks Shared Planner 2012 today because its so small and having a smaller organizer can fit inside my bag together with my gadgets and cameras.

New hot Lunch Sandwiches in Starbucks starting Aug 9

Starting August 9, 2011, there will be a new addition of sandwiches in all branches of Starbucks nationwide. We’re going to enjoy their sandwiches that are made perfect for our lunch meal, also I heard that sandwiches that are being offered before will no longer be available, so I have more time to say good bye to my yummy turkey and that chicken cream sandwiches. But its okay, the new roster of Hot Lunch Sandwiches are much more yummier and plus with high quality ingredients. Its my lucky day that I’ve tried first the lunch sandwiches before they will launch on August 9, so me and my taste buds are back in some food tasting action.

I learned that there will be 7 kinds of Lunch Sandwiches, 4 of them will be available nationwide and the 3 kinds will be available in selected branches in the Philippines, hmm sounds special, but I’m so lucky that I also tried those rare sandwiches, so let’s start our foodie feature and see which one is my favorite sandwiches.


Me and food bloggers were at the new Starbucks drive thru branch in Global City, it is my first time to be there and I fallen inlove with their coffee store there, because it is very different from other Starbucks branches and I love the aura and ambiance of the place, all designs and materials used in the store is all recycled and they are campaigning for eco friendly materials to be used for building cafes and stores.


Okay the food tasting started with a coffee appreciation session, we tried the taste of the Tanzania coffee bean and we compare the taste we have after sipping a mini cup of vinegar and coffee, after the coffee appreciation session, we met Mr. Keith Cole of Starbucks to welcome us in their new branch and also for taking part on this food preview. The main event started with a series of food tasting session of the sandwiches.

Here are the sandwiches that are available nationwide.


Ultimate Grilled Cheese
I love this sandwich because it has a 6 types of cheeses – the Gruyere, Emmenthal, Feta, Provolone, Mozzarella and cheddar, they added a sliced of Hungarian sausage and seasoned with roasted garlic and Italian herbed butter on bread. It was love at first sight for me because I love lots of cheese on my sandwich.


Roasted Chicken Pesto and Shiitake Mushroom on Flat bread
A kind of sandwich with roasted chicken breast fillet and pesto mayo sauce, and added with Shiitake mushroom and with melted Emmenthal and cheddar cheese. The taste of pesto on a sandwich are so common, but your taste will look for that 2 kinds of melted cheese, it is still a nice sandwich and accepted that this will replace my old favorite sandwiches.


The Beef Brisket
Beef meat on a sandwich! One of the best set up for me because of the Emmenthal cheese and the Dijon mustard. Taste so common but this will be for people who don’t like eating ham and chicken.


Roasted Vegetables on flat bread
When I tasted this veggie sandwich, It reminds me of our blogger friend Carl, who is a super vegetarian person. The flavoring style of this veggie sandwich is a Mediterranean in style, veggies marinated in Italian spices and with chili dressing. For green leaf lovers, the chilliness added more taste and yummy factor, if you are on a diet or you want to try light food for you lunch, I recommend this, for me it is a perfect companion for my hot or cold Starbucks drinks. We need to drink some to kick out that chili taste.

The Clubhouse
This is an all time favorite, the sandwich is filled with roasted chicken, pickle relish,mayo mustart, tomato, honey ham, cheese slices. It is the heavy weight of all sandwiches, with lots of fillings and stuffed veggies and meat. This is available in all branches, except in the location of Baguio, Boracay, Bacolod, Cebu, CDO, Davao, Iloilo and Naga )


Tuna Waldorf on Raisin Walnut Bread
THIS IS MY FAVORITE!!!
It is a special and classic style of tuna sandwich,but theres a taste that makes it very special and unique to regular tuna sandwiches. It is prepared with red and green apples, roasted chopped walnuts, crunchy celery in yogurt mayo dressing, hard boiled eggs. I think the mixing of tuna and egg did the trick and it becomes a friend easily with my tummy. This is not available in Baguio, Boracay, Bacolod, Cebu, CDO, Davao, ilolilo and Naga)


Tuna Melt on Rye Bread
This sandwich is only available n Baguio, Boracay, Bacolod, Cebu, CDO, Davao, Iloilo and Naga. It’s the yummy version of a tuna salad in a sandwich with yummy melted cheese on a toasted rye bread added with mozzarella cheese and Spanish paprika. You will be lucky if you tasted this because it is very special because of the mozzarella cheese adding some chew power and yummy taste afterwards of the tuna salad.

All sandwiches will be available starting on August 9, 2011. You can also request if you want your sandwich cold or hot. All are priced at P140.

Watch out for the P50 off promo on August 15-16, they will be offering a P50 off in your lunch sandwich if you ordered it with any hand made beverages.

There will be also new drinks coming in for August 9. Two cold frapuccino drinks will be released, you can mix it up or make it your own by choosing you kind of milk, coffee intensity and cream for your drink.

Hazelnut Mocha Frapuccino and Mint Java Chip Frapuccino blended beverages will come out on Aug 9. hmmm I tasted the mint java chip and tastes cool. But I’m going to quit that drink and shift to Soya and Strawberry, I tried it and they are so good!
